The Jewish Federation of the East Bay invites you to a special screening on October 22 of the Italian drama The Man Who Will Come / L'Uomo che verrà, at the Orinda Theatre. This powerful drama, October’s selection of The International Film Showcase, will begin its one-week run on October 21 with multiple showings each day.

The film is part of a Berkeley Law symposium on the largest single civilian massacre committed by the Nazis in Italy during World War II. The Saturday, October 22 event, titled "The Man Who Will Come: A Conversation about Remembering the Monte Sole Massacre of 1944," will start at 6:30 p.m. with introductory remarks followed by a screening of the film and a Q&A session. Guest speakers will include Italian director/actor Germano Maccioni, who will speak about his experience in the making of the film; Andrea Speranzoni, an Italian jurist and authority on the 1944 massacre at Monte Sole; and Dr. Lenore Kitts, who has convened this panel as director of the related research initiative at UC Berkeley. They will combine their expertise to address the legal and human outcome of the historical events depicted in the film.

Sponsors of the symposium and screening include the Lamorinda Film and Entertainment Foundation, UC Berkeley's School of Law, Miller Institute for Global Challenges and the Law, and Human Rights Center, the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, and the Jewish Federation of the East Bay.

The Orinda Theatre has free underground parking and is a five-minute walk from the Orinda BART station. Tickets and information are available at www.oroindatheatres.com or by calling the Jewish Federation at 510.318.6453.
